Creating during a pandemic and my poor neglected blog!

Hello there!  Oh my, it has been a long time since I have posted anything here!

This post is probably long overdue and a bit out of fashion, however, this last 18 months or so has been a wild and crazy ride ... and as much as I am done with this ride, it seemingly continues with no end in sight!

As a maker, I have been unusually busy during this pandemic.  Between making mask hooks for front line workers, helping an artist cooperative create a website, my own personal home projects, making itty bitty gnomes like a mad woman, starting a whole business, and supporting my husband during job loss and change.  And, I am sure that I am not alone in this busyness.

One thing I have discovered is that having hobbies, making things that you

enjoy, and busying yourself with something creative, is really a necessary distraction with things get a bit crazy.  I have been fortunate to occupy my mind with a completely imaginary and made up world that is far disconnected from our real world.  I have made a few things that highlight and poke fun at some of our troubles, such as,  losing my mind as a sudden home school mom, running out of toilet paper and celebrating when I got some for my birthday.  Although, it is never my intention to dismiss the struggles and hardships that I know many have gone through during the last 18 months.

Like many of you, I had hoped that 2021 would bring a calm and new hope.  But, I too, find myself, still in the depths of pandemic craziness.  2021 has brought new and unexpected challenges, and I continue to struggle with finding craft supplies to fuel my main escape from this pandemic.  However, I have learned to cope and adapt, and I can promise that I will continue to do that.

Early on in the pandemic, I struggled to make fun things.  With everything the world was going through, how could I post about fairies and gnomes and magical things.  I was reminded by a friend though, that this is perhaps what the world needs now ... We need smiles, and laughter, and hugs that take on different forms.  We need art and magic and reminders that there is a light in the world.  We need art and music and creative souls to remind of us good times past and hope for more good times in the future.

I have some exciting things coming up in the next couple weeks, which is one reason that I am here refreshing things.  I can't wait to share it with you soon!

If you have made it this far, I'll apologize for my grammar mistakes and run on sentences, and too many 'ands' and not enough commas and semicolons ... This just me and the thoughts in my head and exactly how they come out of my fingers on a keyboard.  I wish everyone well that happens to stumble upon this.  I hope that you too have an escape from this world that will gobble you up sometimes.  Take care of you, and each other.  I hope you enjoy the light that I have to give.
